2020 Mountain Sun Farm CSA!

We are increasing our available CSA shares. Due to ever changing restrictions we believe CSA will be the most reliable way to get our produce out to you. We ask that you still sign up with your preferred site and we will consolidate, find temporary sites, or set up parking lot pick ups if businesses close or are unable to host pick ups when our CSA begins in mid-April.

We are 100% committed to producing safe, healthy produce for our CSA members during this pandemic. Your produce will be touched by 1-4 healthy people maximum from our field to your home and will be delivered by Brian or Liz (the owners) in a minimal contact manner.

CSA members will also enjoy a more robust weekly email with more storage tips and recipes. We know many can find cooking all meals from home overwhelming on top of other life changes and we want to help you find peace and enjoyment in nourishing yourself and your loved ones during this time.

We do also plan on participating in the Pepper Place drive through market, Lee Branch Market, and Mentone Market as they allow, but those orders will be limited in quantity and produce availability and will not receive the email newsletter.

Please email us if you have any questions or concerns.

If you have lost your job due to COVID-19 and are in need of a payment plan, please email us.

What is a CSA?

Our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a weekly produce subscription directly from our farm. It’s a convenient way for you to buy local, organically grown produce without having to dedicate your Saturday morning to shopping at a farmers’ market. Our CSA customers subscribe and prepay for a share of our farm’s harvest for a set number of weeks and in return we deliver a weekly bag of our produce to central pick-up locations.

The direct-to-consumer relationship allows for savings to both the customer and farmer.  By knowing that a certain percentage of our crops are already sold, it allows us to focus more on actual farming and worry less about marketing during the growing season. The weekly interaction also helps us have a more personal relationship with you! We are getting direct feedback on varieties, taste, and quantities and you are learning how your food is grown and where your food comes from while ensuring local, organic farms continue to grow in your community.

What do I get each week?

Each week you pick-up a bag of our farm’s produce that we will have dropped at the pick-up location earlier that day. What is in the bag varies by season, but it will always be at least a $20 value. Since you only pay $18 per bag, you receive a 10% weekly discount! Pictured at the top of this page are a few actual CSA shares from 2019.

You will also get an emailed newsletter with a list of the items in your bag, storage tips and recipes to help you get the most out of your items, and farm updates with photos.

What do you grow?

All of our produce is Certified Organic. You can learn more about our growing practices here.

Spring - kale, collards, lettuce, strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, radishes, carrots, beets, turnips, green onions, sugar snap peas and more!

  • An example Spring weekly share: 1 quart of strawberries, 1 head of lettuce, 1 bunch of kale, 1lb of broccoli, and 1 bunch of carrots

Summer - cherry tomatoes, slicing tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, basil, watermelons, cantaloupe, onions, garlic, green beans, and more!

  • An example Summer weekly share: 1 pint of cherry tomatoes, 1lb slicing tomatoes, 1 quart of okra, 1.5lbs of zucchini, 1 watermelon

Fall - kale, collards, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, winter radishes, carrots, beets, turnips, pumpkins, winter squash and more!

  • An example Fall weekly share: 1 bunch of collards, 1 head of lettuce, 1 bunch of radishes, 1 bunch of beets, 1 pumpkin, 1lb of broccoli

What are the benefits?

  • You receive 10% off our retail price - (you pay $18/week for a bag of produce that would cost $20 from us at the farmer's market).

  • Each member receives two "Vacation Weeks" where they can skip a weeks' delivery without losing the value of the share.

  • CSA members get priority on choice items - like strawberries, watermelons, and the best tomatoes!

  • A weekday pick-up means even if you go out of town on the weekend you still get your fresh veggies!

  • A weekly email with news updates from the farm, storage tips, photos, and recipes!

  • Easy way to make a healthy commitment for you and your family to eat more vegetables each week.  It will give you an opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family preparing and sharing nutritious meals.

How much does it cost?

Regular Price

$540 for 30 weeks ($18/week)

Full payment for your share is preferred and greatly helps us out with beginning of the season costs. You may also pay half at time of sign up and the remaining half by your frist pick up in April. If you would like to join and need a different payment plan schedule please contact us.

Each member receives two "Vacation Weeks" where they can skip a weeks' delivery without losing the value of the share. If you do not use your "Vacation Weeks" your share will end at 30 weeks, or you can choose to pay for two additional weeks.

We encourage you to ask any questions before committing and to enjoy your full season but we know circumstances change. If you have an unforeseen move or are unsatisfied with your CSA, please let us know and we will give you a pro-rated refund.
